From one office in 1989 to 13 cities across 4 continents
n 1989, Jerome (Jerry) Morgan founded Mercan Group with a clear vision: to provide reliable and comprehensive solutions in the fields of investment immigration and international mobility.
Over the next 35 years, Mercan evolved from a small office into an international presence across 13 cities on 4 continents, maintaining offices in Canada, Portugal, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, China, Cambodia and other strategic markets, with Montreal serving as its business hub.
Today, Mercan Group combines investment immigration, hotel property development and international recruitment services, offering comprehensive solutions that create long-term value for investors, partners and local communities.
To date, we have supported more than 4,100 families in obtaining their residence permits, contributed to the placement of more than 20,000 employees in Canada, and developed more than 30 hotel projects with international brands such as Hilton, IHG and Marriott.

Our journey, from 1989 to today.
In 1989, Jerome (Jerry) Morgan founded Mercan Group with just one office and a clear purpose: to provide reliable services to skilled professionals and their families seeking to legally settle in Canada.
At the time, the company had no investment portfolio, hotel projects or international presence. What it did have was something even more important: a steadfast commitment to client service, a principle that remains at the heart of Mercan Group to this day.
During the 1990s, Mercan developed strong expertise in managing economic immigration cases, supporting programs such as the Quebec Skilled Worker, the Federal Skilled Worker, and the first Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
During the same period, the Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC) team was established, strengthening the company’s specialization and credibility.
In a market that was still taking shape, Mercan stood out for its methodology, accuracy, and professionalism, laying the foundations for its subsequent international growth.
Mercan expanded its activities in international recruitment, connecting skilled workers from the Philippines, Bangladesh, Vietnam and other countries with employers in Canada.
During the same period, offices were established in Manila and Dhaka, laying the foundations for an international network that, over the years, would lead more than 20,000 workers to new professional opportunities in Canada.
This growth was built on experience, consistency and tangible results—not merely on business plans.
Mercan is recognized as one of the world’s top 10 immigration consulting firms, having supported more than 4,100 families through Golden Visa programs and facilitated the placement of more than 20,000 workers in international labor markets.
The Hilton Garden Inn Évora opens its doors as Mercan Properties’ first project in the Alentejo region and Hilton’s first hotel in the historic city of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Within its first three months of operation, the hotel achieves a Booking.com rating of 8.9, confirming from the outset the quality of its services and the hospitality experience it offers.
Renaissance Porto Lapa, a five-star, 241-room hotel under the Marriott brand, opens its doors in one of Porto’s most historic neighborhoods.
Shortly afterwards, the hotel is nominated for the World Travel Awards, demonstrating Mercan’s ability to develop hotel projects to international standards, beyond investment projects associated with Golden Visa programs.
Mercan is recognized as one of the world’s top 10 immigration consulting firms, having supported more than 4,100 families through Golden Visa programs and facilitated the placement of more than 20,000 workers in international labor markets.
Mercan introduces the largest mixed-use project developed under the Greece Golden Visa program. Located in Piraeus, Keranis Residences comprises 408 fully furnished apartments with a total area of approximately 29,900 sq. m., repurposing the historic site of the former Keranis tobacco factory.
With this project, Mercan transforms its investment vision for Greece into a large-scale reality.
Mercan partners with the Government of Panama under the Qualified Investor Program, expanding its operations into Latin America.
As part of this initiative, Santa Maria Residences, a 44-storey residential tower comprising 200 apartments, and Panama City Central, featuring 126 executive suites under the international Pullman brand, are introduced to the market.
