Mercan Greece entered the Greek market in 2024, which it considers strategic for developing new opportunities in both the hospitality and residential sectors. It serves as the Group’s local development platform in Greece and works closely with Mercan’s other offices, including those in Portugal and Canada.
Each of the company’s projects creates added value for the surrounding area, supports urban development, and responds to the needs of both local communities and investors.
Our main areas of real estate investment focus are:
- Urban Transformations: Redevelopment of former industrial and underutilized buildings into vibrant spaces in Athens, Piraeus, and Thessaloniki, prioritizing locations close to metro and tram stations, ports, or universities.
- Value-Added Hospitality Opportunities: Investments in established tourism destinations, including the Ionian Islands, the South Aegean, and the Athens Riviera, in collaboration with renowned international brands.
THE GROUP
Mercan Greece is a member of the Mercan Group of Companies.
The Canadian-based Mercan Group, with a history spanning more than 35 years, has established itself as an international leader in real estate investment and the development of hospitality projects.
Since 2015, the Group has maintained a strong presence in Portugal, where it has developed a portfolio of more than 34 hotel projects with a total value of approximately €1.2 billion, in partnership with international brands such as Hilton, Marriott, IHG, and Wyndham.
Today, Mercan Group has a global presence, with operations in countries including Canada, the United States, and Portugal. It also has subsidiaries in countries such as Dubai, Vietnam, and Cambodia. In addition to its own offices in selected locations, the Group collaborates with partners in more than 30 countries and maintains offices across 10 countries.
One of the Group’s most recent strategic initiatives was the establishment of Mercan Capital Greece in 2024, the Group’s official subsidiary in Greece, serving as its local platform for development, management, and investment.
